Forehead lift surgery is applied because the deformations in the forehead area due to aging may cause disturbing appearance as well as differences in facial expressions. The forehead and eyebrow area has a considerable contribution to mimics; especially the deformations that occur in this area make people feel more uncomfortable. Forehead lift surgery is preferred for the restoration of facial expression and rejuvenation.
What Is Changed After Forehead Lift Surgery?
Aesthetic operations are performed to make people feel better and regain their self-confidence. However, each operation has a different application point. The position of eyebrows can be changed during the forehead lift surgery. In its usual position, the eyebrow should be positioned on the bone over the eye (eyebrow bone); however, if the eyebrows are malpositioned, the brow position is also fixed during the forehead lift surgery. Dropping eyebrows is one of the reasons that cause eyelid bags and this can be corrected with the forehead lift surgery. The wrinkles called as horizontal creases and beetle-brow lines due to facial expressions can be removed with forehead lift surgery.
After Forehead Lift Surgery
The surgery is performed under general or local anesthesia depending on the extent and technique of treatment. The patient needs to stay at the hospital overnight (general anesthesia) or for 4-6 hours (local anesthesia) after the treatment. The patient can take pain relief pills upon the surgeon’s recommendation because pain may occur after surgery. Swellings and bruises that are likely to occur in facial area disappear in a short time. Thus, the patient can return to his/her daily life in quite a short time. It is possible to accelerate the disappearance of swellings and bruises applying cold compress after surgery. It is extremely important to sleep in a supine position and avoid the physical and facial movements that apply force on the sutures during the natural healing process. After surgery, the bandages are removed after 3 days maximum and the patient can take a shower. However, the patient should be careful about not to take shower with hot water during the first week of recovery process. After one-week period, it is possible to take shower at the desired temperature, but the patient should be in contact with the plastic surgeon in this period. For women, the first thing that comes to their mind is the makeup to cover the post-operative scars. Waiting up to 10 days for make-up will provide better results for post-operative healing process.
