Hair Transplantation with FUE
FUT and FUE methods are the most common procedures in hair transplantation. Successful results are obtained in the long term with non-surgical hair transplantation treatments such as the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) method. FUE is the method of extracting individual follicular units from the donor site (located in the back part of the head between the ears) and transferring them into the canals on the recipient site (mostly frontal areas with hair loss). In the FUE method, the amount of transplanted hair is less than the FUT method and the procedure may take relatively a longer time. However, stitch scars caused by the FUT method are out of question in the FUE method.
How to Apply The FUE Method?
In the FUE method, the procedure begins with extracting hair follicles individually from the donor site, the nape area that is the back of the neck. This process is performed under local anesthesia in order to prevent the pain that may occur during the extraction of hair follicles. The hair follicles, also known as the grafts, are transferred individually to the transplantation area. This process takes longer than the FUT method. In the FUT procedure, 6000-7000 hair follicles are transplanted in one session. In the FUE method, 1000-1500 hair follicles are transferred per day because transplantation is performed extracting and transferring the hair follicles individually.
FUE Method With Micro Motor
The FUE technique has begun to be applied in 1930s and it is still applied today in general terms. However, innovations have been made in this technique with technological advancements and application tools have changed. At the starting point of the FUE technique is the process of extracting hair follicles through biopsy needles called punches. The technique called as p-FUE is applied using micro motor and provides much more efficient results in a short time. This technique is accepted as the ‘gold standard’ in hair transplantation. In medical literature, gold standard is defined as the test that allows final decision to be made in the examination process of patients with any disease risk. In other words, the FUE technique is the most valid procedure that should be applied to the patients who are suitable for hair transplantation. The success rate of the FUE technique depends on the density, strength and loss rate of the hair follicles in the donor site. For this reason, the region having the strongest hair follicles is selected as the donor site; thus the success rate of the application is guaranteed.
